Tea is a universally appreciated beverage. There are a variety of options available in tea. Green Tea and Black Tea are well-liked and well-consumed by people. Although both come from the same plant, Camellia sinensis, they still vary concerning various things. In this blog, we delve into Black Tea vs. Green Tea; learning more about their benefits. 

 Black Tea vs. Green Tea Differences 

  BLACK TEA  GREEN TEA 
PRODUCTION  After harvesting, tea leaves are exposed to oxygen, termed as oxidation or fermentation which turns their color into dark brown or black.  In order to sustain the green color of the leaves, they are soon steamed or pan-fired, so that they get minimum oxidation.  

  

CULTIVATION  Black tea, primarily was cultivated in China and India. Now, Asian countries such as Nepal and Vietnam also cultivate black tea.  Green tea cultivation in primarily concentrated in China and Japan. 
BREWING PROCESS  Black tea requires a high temperature (around 212 degrees) and a steeping time of 3-5minutes.  Comparatively, Green tea requires a low temperature (140-170 degrees) and a steeping time of just 1-2minutes. 
APPEARANCE  Black tea produces a rather dark colored liquid, something like reddish copper in color.  Green tea ranges from watery yellow to deep green, closely resembles the color of moss. 
CONSUMPTION  People like to consume black tea with milk, sugar, honey, or lemon.  Green tea pairs with water only to maintain its simplicity and subtleness.  
TASTE  Taste wise, black tea has robust characteristic taste. Indian black tea is strong and heavier meanwhile Chinese black tea are more subtle in taste.  Green tea offers a nutty, vegetal or oceanic taste. Chinese green tea is less astringent and light whereas Japanese green tea is more green hue and bitter.  
CAFFEINE  Black tea is high in caffeine level.   Green tea has low caffeine.

Black tea and Green Tea have almost similar health benefits. However, for a closer observation we’ll discuss them one by one respectively.
